This is not a typical sherry finished dram. Isle of Raasay is a modern distillery with a distinctive collection of Barrels for maturing the distilled spirit in. It is definitely an Island malt and you get a slight hint of the sea, the colour is a light copper and the nose is fruit with zesty notes and the flavour is rich and warm, not a lot of toffee but a hint. It fills the mouth with flavour from sweet and zesty to rich and fruity and the sherry is right there. It has a long finish and I love it. This is not a huge distillery so the premium is in its rarity and small batch, artisan approach.

This is an exceptionally fine malt whisky. It is a very subtle blend of the peaty and a fruity tang of sweetness. Highly recommended. It is expensive but it is also very special.
